Photo Challenge: Words and Letters

Once again, I had so many plans for this challenge! And once again, time has run out. And once again, I'm busy up to my eyeballs! I had hoped to photograph some of my favorite books, some antique sheet music, favorite recipes, and so many other treasures that include letters and words. But, I simply did not get it done. I do have a few to share with you, though. Despite not getting around to all my wonderful ideas, I did remember to snap some photos of letters and words as life whizzed by this month.

It's maple season around here and that means we're knee-deep in gathering sugar water and boiling syrup. A friend blessed us with the wonderful cover for our syrup filter. Thanks, Charlie!!

My niece is having her first baby in a few weeks. There were letters and words all over her baby shower, but the photos of this banner came out the best. It's a girl, by the way.

I'm still enjoying all my old blue jars. Here's a closeup from last summer.

Thanks once again to Donna for hosting this photo challenge every month. One of these days I'm actually going to make time to shoot for the challenge!! And now, I'm off to work at the Maple Festival for the day!! Happy Saturday!

  1. Hi Nancy - glad you made it to the challenge because I'm enjoying your entries. The cover is really special and the sentiment so true. Love the baby bunting and hope all goes well for your niece. Great idea to capture the ball jar the way you did - aren't they just the best containers, and of course look great when empty too - I have a collection of them in my kitchen.

    Happy weekend - Mary

  3. I understand about getting too busy with life! I had every intention of doing a setup or two for this challenge, but we had too much going on with our health issues this past month. Hang in there, and thank you for jumping in on the monthly challenges.

The cover for the maple syrup filter tells the tale of what your life is all about right now, LOL. Cute graphic. Oh, and the baby bunting is precious! My favorite is the closeup of the old blue jar. Love the perspective and the simplicity of the composition!

  5. Oops...forgot to answer your question. No, I have not yet read A Girl of the Limberlost, but it is on our read aloud list for the summer!

  6. I really like your maple syrup label. It's been too cold here for the run so far but should be soon. I love the photo of the Ball jars, a favourite of mine. All your photos are nice choices!

  8. The syrup filter cover is awesome, a great gift, and I like the blue Ball jar. Still too cold for our maple syrup but I keep a good supply from a local farmer for winter.

  9. Visiting from Donna's Photo Challenge, but what I like is your header photo! Beautiful. And I didn't realize you'd be making maple syrup that far south. It's quite big around here, and I love it!

Thank you for visiting my photos too.
I have enjoyed reading some of your recent posts, and admiring all the snow.
I used to enjoy seeing it when I used to visit my daughter and her little family
    when they lived in NYC
but now they are here back in Australia, I don't get to see the snow anymore!
Your husband is a trooper out there shoveling at 5am. What a treasure.
